View Full Version : Having both GMS and Extalia in your computer
Made for those who want both GMS and Extalia on their computer but keep screwing it up and getting error codes.
Getting ExtaliaMS
1. Delete and uninstall everything Maple. ( if present )
2. Download the game installer from the Extalia site (http://maple.extalia.net/4-downloads).
3. Install the game from the installer you just downloaded.
4. Get new Extalia client files and extract them into your MapleStory folder. ( Usually located in Program Files ) You can download them off here (http://maple.extalia.net/4-downloads).
5. Run ExtaliaMs.exe when you want to play Extalia.
Getting GMS
1. If you want to GMS on your pc as well, you will have to put your Extalia folder elsewhere.
2. Copy your entire MapleStory folder from the above.
3. Paste it somewhere else ( desktop for example ), and rename it so you won't get confused. For example, name the folder ExtaliaMS.
4. Download a manual patcher for the latest GMS patch off Nexon's website (http://maplestory.nexon.net/Support/Downloads.aspx).
5. Drag the manual patcher into your old MapleStory folder.
6. Run the patcher and let it patch your game in that folder.
7. Run GameLauncher.exe from that folder ( the original folder with the Nexon patch ) when you want to play GMS.
End results
You have the ExtaliaMS folder on your desktop ( or wherever else you pasted it in ) and the GMS folder in Program Files.
Tips
Use a download manager when downloading, it will reduce the possibilities of a corrupted file and also increase download speeds. You can try DAP from here (http://www.speedbit.com/) or Orbit from here (http://www.orbitdownloader.com/).

lol those people must lack common sense then. But then this can still consider a guide, like what yuno said lots of people QQ about their outdated client. They just patch their client without thinking if they can play extailia when its patched. But then this cant really consider a guide on the other half because it doesnt really help anybody, since those people who need this guide they would already patch their client and need to redownload v101

For some reason every time I install Extalia it goes in Nexon folder with the other Nexon games o.o

Why is this even a thread, I have my Extalia.exe in my Nexon folder, I can click freely at will between GMS and Extalia, as should everyone else, you just basically gave us an installation guide, which we honestly have enough of.

Nice guide. I have mine the other away around (Extalia on Desktop, GMS in Nexon Folder) but this is how I get both to run.

Okay so I cant play Extalia, so heres what happens I clicked ExtaliaMS, I see the dual blade thingy then it gave me this " We are unable to connect to the login server due to a sever check, a firewall block or other network issues.
Please check the ExtaliaMS homepage for ongoing sever checks as well as your firewall settings."
Someone help me to resolve this problem. Im new to Extalia :/

So, when I play GMS again, I use manual patcher. But when I want to play ExtaliaMS once again, I need to uninstall, then run MSSetupv101?

You can't have both GMS and Extalia in the same folder because they run different versions.
Also, not everyone is well versed with their computers. The bajillions of threads in the Tech section seeking help because they messed up their GMS and Extalia is solid proof of this.

Check the Extalia's homepage to see if the server is online.
Disable all antivirus and firewalls.
Server could be lagging.
So, when I play GMS again, I use manual patcher. But when I want to play ExtaliaMS once again, I need to uninstall, then run MSSetupv101?
No, you just need to install Extalia first and not GMS first otherwise GMS will give you v1.02 and you will need to reinstall Extalia.
You can have both Extalia and GMS together in your PC if you follow the steps in the guide.

Ok i followed your steps, first i completely wiped my computer of anything maple. The GMS and all its downloaders and clients and the extalia i had before. I then went and downloaded the extalia client from your link and it downloaded fine then i went to run setup and nothing happened. I turned off my firewall and my antivirus and before even 1% downloaded it read " an error occurred during installation. Please try again." does this mean i have to do all those steps over again? like this is the 4th time ive tried to get extalia and it just isnt happening for me. If anyone has any input to help me fix this and actually play extalia please leave me a quick response. thanks for your time

Download it using a download manager. I have provided info on how to obtain one in my first post.

Ok so now its downloaded and i can get to the homescreen of the game where it asks my login id and password. I created this at the extalia website and i can log on and off that with the id and password whenever i want but when i launch the game and type in the same id and password it rejects it and says its not registered. What do i do about this? please and thanks for your time

nevermind i followed your guide on and downloaded the gms because i figured it wouldnt let me log on unless i had that one downloaded but now extalia says client is out of date again. im assuming its because after i manually patched it, it brought me to the maplestory home page so i clicked play and then another patcher came up and re-patched everything after i downloaded and ran the manual patcher. This is getting so frustrating and i still cant play extalia. Can you please help me further....

You need to create a gaming account to logon. To do this, visit here (http://maple.extalia.net/index.php) and logon to the site. You should then see the option to create a gaming account
nevermind i followed your guide on and downloaded the gms because i figured it wouldnt let me log on unless i had that one downloaded but now extalia says client is out of date again.
You likely did not follow every step in my guide. You were supposed to make a COPY of your MapleStory folder before patching, and you were only supposed to patch the NEW FOLDER.
If you did not make a copy of your folder and patched v1.01, then you'll have to reinstall v1.01 from the setup again. Or, if you've deleted the setup, then you will have to redownload and reinstall.
Also, you did not need to download the GMS patch if you only wanted to run Extalia. You only needed to create a gaming account.

Then I downloaded manual patch v102 and saved it at GMS folder at desktop
Then I patched GMS folder from v101 to v102
Then I went to extalia folder and played extalia for a while (I used extaliams.exe)
Then I wanted to play GMS and ran it via gamelauncher.exe (but the launcher started to download the v102 patch again)
Then I quited GMS and came back to Extalia and of course, Outdated client message appears and got to reinstall everything again...
So.. what did I do wrong? ><

Hmm.... I don't know, it worked for me. It shouldn't have had repatched your Extalia folder.
I've tweaked the " Getting GMS " area abit in my first post though. Try following the entire guide again and see if it helps now.

i knew this was possible in fact i did install them in different locations but for some reason when i started up gms it ended up patching the older client (v.1.01) used for extalia and then i couldnt get on extalia.
ps. I did have them in seperate folders and locations and was running the gamelauncher for gms when it did that. Think this time im going to just go to the gms website and login from there to see if it does that still
